Training Updates and Information

This page is dedicated to the training process of some of the young horses here at Diamond H Quarter Horses.  Some of these horses are currently being offered for sale, others are not.  However all of these horses have been bred, born, raised and trained right here unless otherwise noted.  It is my intention for each horse to eventually have their own individual training "blog pages" complete with pictures and hopefully video clips as well.  This will allow for the training process on each animal to be followed step by step.  If you have any questions regarding any of the horses found on this page, just drop us an email and we will be happy to visit with you.

Pocoblakburn Peach

2003 Palomino Mare x Hiedes Whitey

"Schnapps" is a very willing and enjoyable youngster to work with and has taken every thing in stride.  Her ground work continues to improve as well as her efforts under saddle with a rider.  She is naturally very light and is becoming more and more responsive to the rider's seat and leg cues.  This little mare is also a "cow huntin' machine"!    This mare is NOT being offered for sale.

Blackburns Zane Gray

2003 Iron Gray Stallion x Hiedes Whitey

"Zane" is a beautiful headed yet still very masculine young stallion that is exhibits a great deal of eye appeal and is showing fantastic timing and athletic quality.  He displays a powerful stride without being rough or choppy in his execution of movement.  He is a very balanced and relaxed mover that has done well with his ground and round pen work.  He is quiet and focused while being worked under saddle and makes a genuine effort to understand the commands given to him.    Zane is being offered for sale Email us for details.

Poco Dun N Style

2003 Dun Stallion x Passionate Stripe

This young stallion earned his name as a very young age when it seemed that no matter what he did, he did it with STYLE.  He is agile, ultra athletic, is a super light touch and is very responsive.  This is a show/stallion prospect deluxe.  Look for new up-to-date pictures when his individual blog page is up.  This stallion is also being offered for sale Email for details.

Blackburns QZ

2004 Dun/Gray Gelding x Hiedes Whitey

UPDATE - "Q" has been sold to Rick and Jeanette Bates of Texas.  He will remain here for a while longer to further his training.

"Q" as you can see from the picture on the right, travels with a very level topline and has a long, sweeping stride.  This coming 2-yr-old gelding has done very well in his initial ground training and will soon begin further work in the round pen.  He has been lunged and has had a good deal of sacking out and rope work done with him.  He displays a very calm, quiet, accepting demeanor and learns quickly.  His movement and carriage would indicate he could work well as both a western and an english horse.   This young gelding is being offered for sale Email for details.

JK Ole Man Zeb

2003 Grullo Gelding x Super Smooth Zeb

UPDATE - Zeb has been sold to Rick and Jeanette Bates of Texas.  He will remain here for a while longer to further his training.

UPDATE - Zeb is now in Texas at his new home and is getting settled in.

This is one of the softest strided horses I have ever seen, he looks at times as though his feet do not even make contact with the ground but rather hover just above the surface before he picks them up again for the next stride.  Zeb had quite a bit of ground work and limited riding over the summer and fall of 2005.  We will be continuing his training as weather permits.  This is a very nice young gelding that is loaded with potential and ability.

Boston Bueno Bar

2003 Pale Palomino Gelding x Chico Bueno Bar

"Roo" is a very elegant and fluid mover with a super attitude towards the learning process.  This colt literally went to sleep during the sacking out process of his first saddling!  From there on it has been smooth sailing.  He is extremely responsive, intelligent, and challenges me to remember to ask for things softly as he has proven to be super LIGHT.  I think the neatest thing about this colt is just his overall "horsenality".  He is really animated in his facial expressions and can convey such a variety of emotions, he would sure give the famous Mr Ed a run for his money!  This gelding is NOT being offered for sale.

Pocoblackburn Rodeo

2002 Bay Gelding x Chico Bueno Bar

"Rodeo" is the one I call my "little engine that could", he has a ton of heart and big motor with a desire to perform.  He is a real team player and for the most part is good to focus and give 110%.  I have enjoyed being a part of the process of bringing this colt along from the day he struggled free of the birth sack to the horse he is developing into.  He is a real trooper and deserves lots of hugs and kudos from his human partner.    Rodeo is NOT being offered for sale.

Continental Dbl Shot

2004 Palomino Gelding x Striking Kings Gold

"Hershey" will be two soon and will begin learning what it is all about to be a "horse".  He and his buddy "Q" have been living the life of "kiddos" for the most part up till now, but soon they will both be brought into a training program that will take them two to three years to complete.  After they have graduated they will be ready for the show ring, arena, ranch, or be a solid, consistent pleasure and family horse.  As you can see from the picture to the right, even as a weanling this colt has shown power in his hind quarters as well as a level and even distribution of muscle and mass throughout the balance of his body.  This gelding is not being offered for sale at this time but will be listed at a later date after he has had some training.
